A Suggestion for the Future of Bridge

I need your help.  My proposals have fallen on deaf ears as far as I can tell.  I came up with a real winner and have heard nothing from Memphis.  FedEx lives in Memphis, as does the ACBL.  Why not team up?  We need to pick some attractive college kids to be bridge spokesmodels.  (Good looking is preferable to good bridge for this group.)  They will be the FedEx Bridge Team.  Maybe they’ll learn bridge, but they will be the face of bridge to the public.  They can travel to tournaments via FedEx aircraft while getting paid as FedEx employees gaining work/study credits.  I have more to this but you get the idea.  Please comment with endorsements and maybe we can get someone’s attention!

Hi Chris,

Your idea is a very good one. If you can put the pieces together, good and athletic looking boys and girls, enthusiasm for the wonders of the game, together with the immense satisfaction of matching up with one’s peers and winning a mental battle, would at least disclose to all who would listen that playing bridge is the game of choice and worthy of the time and energy necessary to compete.

Since in these days of a fallen economy, bridge takes on special emphasis because it does not cost much to learn it or play it. It could begin to compete with the poker lobby and at the same time, the players not have the fear of gambling and losing money when luck goes against.

My guess is that a thoroughly thought out game plan might entice some of the wealthiest and enthusiastic people who are connected to the bridge world to come sallying forth with, at least, some kind of financial help to get you going.

Good Luck!

One of my Facebook friends is poker star Phil Hellmuth. I’ve written him about asking folks at the poker table (on ESPN camera) if they play bridge. You could be an ENORMOUS help if you would drop by the RIo next week, look him up, and discuss this stuff with him. With his help and connections we might just pull this off!

Go to my Facebook page and look at my friend Aneliese Roettger. That’s the look we could produce for bridge if we choose to do so. Why are we not?
